The sun is setting on 2024 and as always, dear reader, we are grateful to have had the chance to spend it with you.
This past year we travelled back to the Catskills, read books that dazzled us, indulged in gefilte fish poppers, attended the Oscars, meditated on duality, found belonging in Jewish literature, and more.
We close out the year with a collection of works that celebrate individuality and organizations that seek to lift up Jewish voices. From Jessica Jacobs recalling her decision to wear a Magen David for the first time, to The Braid finding a new home for its theatrical work, to honouring Leonard Cohen, to Adam Wolfond’s upcoming exhibit at Koffler Arts, to Ve’ahavta’s continued mission to help those facing homelessness in Toronto.
With every issue, we continue to be amazed by the work of the Jewish community to provide enriching worldviews while also striving to make the world a better place. In a world that feels like it’s getting swallowed up in darkness, there is always so much light shining through and that gives us incredible hope and optimism for our collective future.
Our next issue will not arrive until spring 2025. We don’t know what the new year will bring, what stories we will have to share, the new friends we will make, but one thing is for certain, we will continue to build this home of Jewish expression with you.
We wish you all a happy Hanukkah, happy New Year, and a very happy holiday season filled with light, love, and a lot of latkes.
Warmest,
Clarrie & Orly
