The “Dreidel Heads” postcard series is eight judeofuturist visions of delight for eight days of Hanukkah.
The series started as a lark, as I’d stumbled upon an antique gambling tops plate in a beloved vintage cowboy book and built from the novelty of Hanukkah-themed surrealist art. But what began as a fun project creating Hanukkah kitsch turned into a meaningful series at the end of a hard year. By the time I’d finished the series these cards felt like much-needed levity and delight for Jews who have spent a difficult year separated from loved ones and celebrating and observing all of our major holidays in isolation. I hope they bring others as much happiness as they’ve brought me, and can offer some much-needed connection and laughter over long distances this Hanukkah.
