How fitting is it for Niv’s first issue in 2021 to be all about love (with a few stories sprinkled in about Purim).
It has now been over a year since the first COVID-19 case was detected in Canada. With the pandemic, has come a lot of pain, heartache, and struggle for so many.
With this issue, we wanted to bring you a little bit of levity during these trying times. Our contributors and the Niv team have delivered heartwarming, and community-affirming work.
You’ll find some personal love advice from comedian Natalie Norman, the importance of love from Rabbi Zachary Goodman, the retelling of the Purim story through a feminist lens, how modern day yentas are pairing people up, and what loves looks like for different people in our series “Portraits of Love”.
Take some time out of your day to indulge in these beautiful and wholesome stories that may uplift your spirits in what feels like a never-ending pandemic tunnel.
The Jewish community is out there doing important creative work and this issue gives you a window into some of it.
Brought to you by the Niv team.
